Target Commerical

1. Close observations:
The Line at the end saying "Design For All" really highlights the main point of the commercial. The commercial displays various characters using products you would find in Target, in which the audience watching would feel relatable to. The characters include an older, several studious-looking men, a pregnant mother, several attractive young women, a couple, an athletic man, and an older woman. Another phrase highlighted in the commercial is "Form Meet Function." They display examples of this to attract viewers to the stylish objects they carry, but remind them that they are very necessary. The bold colors, use of shapes on the screen, and modern style of capturing the characters and objects in the commercial add to the aesthetic appeal of the form. The next phrase "Play it safe" also plays towards the audience's opinions that the products offered by Target are necessities. The "Love Your Mother Earth" phrase plays on America's new obsession on being healthy and earth friendly. "Think Outside the Box" will attract all who want variety in their shopping centers. The attractive colors, interesting transitions, and the music of the commercial give off a fresh and stylish feel to the Target commercial.

2. Thesis:
Target has attractive products for all needs.

3. How is this shown? Why do we know they are needed? How are these products attractive?

4. The Target commercial is convincing audiences that Target contains products for all needs by showing several characters to relate to, highlighting main advantages with key phrases, using stylish aesthetic details to make the products wanted, but still making them look needed.

5. What is interesting about this observation? How does this effect people? How does this effect Target's competition? How is Target trying to stand out?

6. This commercial attracts customers away from competitors and towards Target by showcasing an image of stylish necessities. The commercial shows a place that every consumer will find something they will need and want.

  1. Strong thesis! You could change your 4th thesis by saying that target commercial creates a need for the product instead of make the products wanted. But overall, good job. :)
