Julia and I watched a freecreditreport.com commercial. In this commercial a man was dressed as a pirate and worked in a restaurant because he didn’t know that he had become a victim of identity theft. Throughout the entire commercial the man communicates through song. The song is used to grab the viewers’ attention and to help them remember the information provided. The catchy lyrics cause the viewer to think about the commercial and its contents for prolonged periods of time. Cause and effect is demonstrated first hand by the pirate, who explains that if he had used freecreditreport.com they would have sent him a warning when his identity was stolen and he wouldn’t be stuck with the restaurant job. By implying that the viewer may end up working a job that they don’t want because of identity theft, the man convinces people to go to freecreditreport.com. This commercial is also one of a series of freecreditreport.com commercials all based around the man who sings his songs about how much better his life would be if he had used freecreditreport.com. Because of the humor and catchy lyrics, people are more likely to watch the other commercials and thus visit the site.
