observation 4

For my research paper, I will be researching about drug history and the effects different commercials, ads, etc. have on the general audience. I will be considering the differences in the way commercials, ads, etc. are presented to an audience and the effects they may have on the audience by visual rhetoric.  In my visual rhetoric paper, I used one of the above the influence commercials, which are commercials trying to promote to live "above the influence" and not give in to drugs, alcohol, pressure, etc.  My main focus will be on how commercials/ads reflect what effects drugs can have on an individual, and using specifically the above the influence commercials.

The sources I will be using for this research paper will be pretty standard.  I will use books, articles (both from magazines and other sources),  commercials, ads, photographs, and web sites to get a better understanding of my topic.  These sources will help me to understand the history timeline on drugs, to see what exactly it is that these commercials/ads are trying to promote and persuade to the audience, and the effects it is having on the general audience today.

I think that for the most part I will be able to find a sufficient amount of information about this particular topic.  There has been much ongoing research about drugs and its effects for a long time, however i can see that there may be some difficulties when researching.  I will need to make sure that articles, websites, etc. that I use are not bias, and especially when using statistics or facts, need to make sure that they are correct and not showing skewed data.  Also, I will have to make sure that I organize my paper in a way so that it flows easily. There is a lot of information that will be found on this topic, and so I will need to make sure that I am able to put the paper in the correct format, to be able to get my point across.
