Observation 4- Research topic

For my research topic I will study how President Barack Obama won over America with the rhetoric in his speeches. I want to research his ability to inspire certain audiences, and if his manner and style is enough to win an election. He is being considered on of the greatest orators of his time. I want to analyze how he was inspired by his predecessors such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Abraham Lincoln. I will compare his own speeches throughout his career and notice how his rhetoric appeals change with his various audiences from a race for the senate to the presidency. I will use online databases of his speeches and his predecessors. I will also search for articles about the strategies used by politicians in their speeches. It might be difficult to keep my own personal political views out of the way of researching just the rhetoric.
