Observation 4 Benji

I plan to write my research paper on how companies use facebook as a rhetorical device. Facebook is a social network used by millions of people all over the world: aka, Facebook is a great place for companies to advertise their product. Each day when we look at facebook, we not only see our friends and the comments they have left us, but we also see previews for the newest movies, holiday deals, even properties that are for sale. By allowing these advertisements, Facebook as a company is making money. But how much work does Facebook actually do? Don't we, the dedicated Facebookers, personally design and create each individual page on the site. Don't we allow personal information about our religions, relationships, interests, and countless other things for anyone to see? In my paper I will analyze Facebook as a means of advertisement and as a rhetorical devise for companies.

For sources I will use mostly websites and magazines becuase I doubt many books have been written about Facebook. I will also look into the financial aspects of Facebook as a company and learn about their strocks, and annual income. Most of this information will come from websites, unless I am lucky enough to call someone who works for Facebook.

The most challenging part of this research paper will be finding valid sources. Because Facebook is fairly new to technology, I doubt many things have been written about it. I do know that there have been privacy controversies concerning Facebook, which may include some information that I can use. I don't think that I will have a problem stating my own opinions on this subject, but I may have trouble finding valid sources to back me up.

  1. Well hello Benji how we doin.

    Okay well here we go.

First of all I like your topic and I feel that you'll be able to provide a convincing argument. I mean I've really got nothing to tell you except that Facebook in general might be a little too broad and you'll have to narrow your topic. I'm not exactly sure how to do that but I think you'll figure it all out. I agree that finding sources will be hard but I'm sure they exist. Good luck Benji!
