Observation 4

1. I plan to write about the Campaign for Real Beauty for this research paper. Campaign for Real Beauty is advocated by Dove products whose main goal is to decrease beauty stereotypes and increase self esteem for all types of women. The company uses self-provocative ads, self-fulfilling programs, as well as messages to improve self confidence for all generations. The Campaign for real beauty uses provoking and confrontational ads in order to send their message to the women around the world about the importance of embracing an individual's own beauty.

2. My main source for this topic is their website that includes all their ads as well as their products. Also, I will use other commercials they have used for the media. There are also articles and news about the program that includes participants who has had an impact from the campaign.

3. An obstacle for this project is finding enough sources for the topics that is not included from the website alone. Another problem is including rhetorical aspects along with the ads and commercials because I know I will mainly focus on what the commercial is pointing out for its audience.

  1. Your thesis is really good, but you need to add more rhetoric to it. The thesis you have is a thesis for the real beauty campaign itself, but it needs to be a thesis using rhetoric. You have listed some good sources, and I would recommend using some magazine ads as well. You should be able to find lots of information using the sources you listed for your topic. If you have trouble with finding enough rhetoric, maybe you could slightly change your topic to include how those commercials influence younger generations and their self-esteem.
