Observation #7
There are several social categories that I can identify myself with. First of all I identify myself with my gender, being a female. Society judges individuals based on gender, societal norms dictate how I dress and act in public, and what is considered acceptable. The way I dress reflects this social category. It is acceptable within in society for females to wear skirts in dresses, which I wear. Although I usually dress in more comfortable clothes such as jeans and flip flops. The clothing I wear isn't very expressive and is somewhat dictated by certain fashion trends. I wear simple jewelry which is not very expressive, and I have my ears pierced which identifies me with the female population. I identify myself with my occupation, being a college student, and my race, being caucasian. I affiliate myself with the Democratic Party which reflects my views on certain issues. Many people identify themselves by the sport they are involved in. In high school, I was involved in cheerleading, and I identified myself as a cheerleader.
