Observation 6 - Steven

I did not think of using an interview as a source for my research paper, however, the more I think about it the more I believe it would be helpful with my process. I have a teacher who is very adept on the topic which I am writing my paper. He was an English major and he wrote his 70 page graduate thesis paper on the topic of transcendentalism, thus I'm sure he will be able to help me out. I have emailed him to see if he will do it, and I expect him to get back to me within the next couple days, at which point I will be able to start the interview process.

Observation 6

I learned so much from the creative writing assignment that I just do not know where to begin. First of all, it caused me to really dig deep and think about my topic in ways that I had never thought about it before, and since we are writing a 12 page paper that is going to be very important. It was also a good assignment because it forced us to use all of the things about rhetoric that we have learned throughout the course of the semester. Lastly, because we were writing about something bad it forced us to really work on our argumentation so that the reader would be able to go along with what we were saying. I just love learning and writing. It's just great.

From writing the creative writing assignment, I have learned how to utilize rhetorical analysis in persuasive arguments. For this assignment, we were assigned to write about something usually viewed as bad and to persuade the audience to view it as something good. I chose to write about Adolf Hitler, a cruel dictator viewed as an awful man world-wide. In my paper I emphasized Hitler's good attributes, such as his speech giving skills, leadership skills, and determination. I also mentioned how much passion Hitler had for Germany, and what he did to improve his country. I didn't really mention the bad things Hitler did. In order to make my argument more persuasive I should have tried somehow to turn his bad actions into a good thing.

From the creative writing assignment I learned how to write using the lighter side of rhetoric. I also learned how to be creative in my writing by changing the traditional outlook on a subject by looking at it in a different light. By looking at something in a different light you can highlight parts of the topic that are not traditionally focused upon to form an argument which may have otherwise seemed ridiculous. Now that different aspects are highlighted they seem plausible.

I did my creative paper on the pros and cons of birth control use. I tried to persuade the reader that you can still get pregnant when you are using birth control if you do not use it correctly. I wanted to talk about the benefits of using this form of contraceptive. I think doing this creative paper helped me work on my persuading skills, and not just focus on one stand on the topic. I wanted to talk about both sides and make the reader understand the point of my paper. This will help me with me rhetoric research paper with showing both aspects of the topic of homelessness, but to make sure that I have a solid arguement, not supporting both sides.

Why You Shouldn't Get Someone Else's Name on You as a Tattoo

There are many reasons why you shouldn't get someones named tattooed on your body. One is tattoo ink permanent! Unless this person is family their name should not be inc
luded in your body art. One way you can deal with this mistake however if you've already committed it is you can save up and have it removed by laser; however this method is extremely expensive so you may want to choose and alternative route. One can also choose to take the already permanent name and expand it into another tattoo by making it form into another picture. Also you can turn the persons name into an acronym such as the name Mia can be turned around to represent Miami hopefully this is your hometown.
